Taylor Fladgate's "Golden Age" 50 Year Tawny Port is a rare and treasured release, crafted by blending exceptional wood-matured ports that have spent five decades resting in oak. Only a limited number of bottles are produced, making this a genuine collector's find. The base wines originate from the eastern Douro Valley, a region long regarded as home to some of Portugal's most prestigious vineyards and the source of the country's most enduring wines. Before blending, each individual lot was carefully aged in Taylor's own cellars, within specially chosen oak casks handpicked by the house's skilled team of coopers.
Fifty years of patient maturation have brought this port to its peak, a stage where flavour, texture and aroma unite in flawless harmony. In the glass, it shows a chestnut and copper hue softened by a golden rim, while the bouquet unfolds with rum, raisin, clove and warm nutmeg. On the palate, ripe prunes, quince and apricot are lifted by bright citrus acidity, layered with scorched pineapple, passion fruit, toasted coconut and butterscotch, before a long, poised finish that lingers well beyond the last sip. No decanting is needed, making it a fitting choice to mark a golden anniversary or any milestone worth celebrating.
