The Legacy of Ravazzol Vineyard
The historic Ravazzol vineyard is at the heart of Cà la Bionda. It is a prized single vineyard site known for its terraced hillside exposure and mineral-rich soils. The winery makes wines that are pure, well-structured, and true to the place where they are made by using grapes grown on the estate and making small batches.
- Grape Varieties: 70% Corvina, 20% Corvinone, 10% Rondinella, and Molinara.
- Region of Origin: Valpolicella Classico, Marano di Valpolicella, Verona.
- Soil: The soil is primarily composed of clay and limestone, a mineral high in calcium, with a substantial amount of stone and solid material. This soil type is essential for the production of long-lived wines, as it imparts a remarkable elegance and vitality to the wines.
- Vineyards: The vineyards are situated on terraced hillside terrain across 29 hectares, with an altitude that varies from 150 to 300 metres above sea level and an east to southeast exposure.
- Aging and Fermentation: The fruits used to produce this wine are sourced from vineyards situated on the "Ravazzol" hill. The dried grapes undergo fermentation in stainless steel containers, and the wine is subsequently aged for 42 months in 3,000-litre oak vats. (This applies to the standard Ravazzol Amarone della Valpolicella; the Riserva is aged separately for a longer period in different vessels.)
